Just Keep Dancin’
Medically speaking, Rucker is in the midst of undergoing Chemo treatments every 21 days. He is in and out of Children's Hospital and has had some wonderful weeks in between each treatment at home! He recently received a feeding tube, which has taken much stress out of taking a multitude of daily medications and has been supplemental in his caloric intake.
Rucker Update
While many of you may imagine this diagnosis is reason for despair, we have found so much to be positive about and thankful for over the past couple of months. The thoughts, prayers and support of our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers has been overwhelming. We are immensely thankful to all who have or will help us in the future.
Rucker Update
It has been a complicated diagnostic process, and as of right now, CCSK has been ruled out, and his cancer is being classified as an undifferentiated sarcoma. (This means that the cancerous cells don't resemble cells found in the body tissues in which they develop - in Rucker's case, his kidney.)
Rucker’s Timeline of Events
In late March, Rucker went to the ER at Children's after a few days of limping and complaining about pain in his left leg. An X-ray followed up by an MRI showed a small lesion in his fibula. The doctors were concerned so they ordered a biopsy the following week. The results of the biopsy appeared to be negative for malignancy, although the pathologist noted some findings of inflammation and giant cells (which are benign).
The Little Superhero
Our Rucker is smart, thoughtful, always listening, and wanting to please. He loves karate, swimming, reading, snuggling to watch movies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and all super heroes. He laughs with abandon when being tossed or tickled by his daddy, loves to please his mommy, and he is baby Charlie's biggest protector.
