SEF Cancer

John Collier

Rucker’s Dad | Founder | Executive Director | CIO | Board Member

John Collier is one of the founders of the Rucker Collier Foundation. During Rucker’s cancer battle, John took on most of the scientific and medical aspects in his search for a cure. John sought out the best in the world and built a network of oncologists, scientific researchers, pharmaceutical leaders, and other experienced parents to help find the best therapy for Rucker. We often joke that John now has a hard earned “DAD-MD” title.

Outside of his work with the foundation, John works in the investment management industry.

Katie Collier

Rucker’s Mom | Co-Founder | Board Member

Katie Collier is one of the founders of the Rucker Collier Foundation. She knows first hand the difficulties encountered as a parent whose child is facing an incurable, life-threatening disease. Katie took on most of the day-to-day aspects of Rucker’s care, and helped build a network of other SEF patients and parents and still maintains those relationships today. She has a well deserved “MOM-RN” status in our book.

Katie left her career as a civil litigation attorney in 2018 after Rucker was diagnosed with SEF. She now focuses on raising Rucker’s little brother Charlie and carrying out Rucker’s legacy through her work with the foundation.

Ann Berkmeier

Rucker’s Aunt “Annie” | Board Member | Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations, Ann utilizes her extensive background in project management for the foundation. She also serves as an advocate in the community to build upon her nephew’s legacy. Ann wore many hats during Rucker’s journey, but was most fond of her role as “Annie,” when play dates with Rucker and his “brousin” Biv knew no limits.

Clark Collier

Rucker’s “Pops” | Board Member | Legal Counsel

Clark Collier, or “Pops,” is Rucker’s grandfather. He is a practicing attorney in Birmingham and serves as legal counsel to the foundation. As the affable grandfather and friend to so many in our community, Clark also serves as an eager advocate and promoter of the foundation. He’s our “hype-man.”
